The Quintessential Indie Bites: Hardback Special Edition

We’re working on a special hardback edition of Indie Bites, but we need your help to make it happen.

Your regular issue of Indie Bites will be arriving tomorrow, but in the meantime we wanted to tell you about this very special, 5th anniversary, hardback special edition.

From dark fairytale retellings to cosy wizardly romance, we celebrate every kind of fantasy story in the pages of Indie Bites, and we want to showcase our favourites from the past 20 issues in the hardback glory they deserve.

Design

The hardback special edition will be a neat cloth wibalin-bound volume covered by a dust jacket, only slightly taller and wider than our usual 5x8 inch paperback issues. (NB the image below is a sample from the printer's website and does not represent the dimensions of our special edition!)

The black cloth cover will be covered by a 160gsm dust jacket, which will be printed and gold-foiled with a bespoke design commissioned from excellent illustrator and author Arden Powell (who drew the cover of our 19th issue, Dragons & Darkness).

The endpapers will be printed in full colour in a bespoke design commissioned from excellent illustrator Madeleine Rico (who drew the cover of our 16th issue, Spirits & Spellcasters).

Why We Need Your Help

Indie Bites runs on a shoestring. All of the regular work that we (Josie and Adie) do for Indie Bites is unpaid. We pour our time and care into the issues we release every quarter in digital and paperback format, and we do it for free. Our digital copies are free to download, and our paperback copies are sold at print cost, because our mission is to reach as wide an audience as possible in order to promote the work of the authors we feature. We don't make any profit, which means we don't have any spare cash knocking around to splash out on hardbacks.

But we really want to, for ourselves and for all the contributors we'd like to feature in this special edition. That's why we need your support to bring the special edition to life.
